Question by purrtycruisergal: How typically do infant cottontail rabbits need to suckle?
We were graced with 3 orphaned infant rabbits, and my 15 yr old daughter has been bottle feeding them. The bunnies are about a week old(eyes still closed). She has been feeding them about three times a day. When before school, correct following school, and at bedtime. Is it sufficient?
The formula that was recommended is kitten formula.

Maake a pool of milk, or whatever, for them to swim in and hope they don’t drown

Baby rabbits eat once/day.

A mother rabbit (doe) will feed the kits once or twice a day, usually at dawn and dusk. She does have very rich milk which is hard to difficult to replicate.
Depending on what you are using, 3-5 times a day is probably adequate.
You really should take the rabbit to a wild life rehab centre. They know how to deal with young animals and can use the right formula to give it the best chance. In many places, it is illegal to keep a wild animal without a permit.

Yes – surprisinly rabbits do not feed their babies very often – 2-3 times a day for a few minutes. My mom had a wild rabbit in her backyard and we watched them during the day. She would only come around for a few mins to feed the babies.
