If you’re an engaged parent that already reads to your child then this product isn’t going to help you. It comes with a few books, some flashcards, and a CD of music. There is no phonics learning in this kit.
My 2.5 year old already has a few hundred books, we already read to her twice a day, and we do active reading by asking her questions about the book and the pictures. That’s the extent of what the parents guide is going to tell you.
Save your money, buy some board books, and wait until your child is ready for one of the older kits that actually has some phonics learning in it.

Just recieved this for my daughter, and already I am excited. It comes with a great in-depth parent handbook, and tons of books, activites, a cd, and stickers. A great intro for a love of reading, learning and is a great way for them to continue building on a bond with you.

I ordered this same product from Target last year thru Amazon, and the price was $39.95 even with Target’s $22 shipping it was a deal. This $279 is ridiculous, check the Hooked on Phonics site 1st I would never pay that much for this.
